Welcome everyone, the course starts today! We’re really pleased to have everyone on board, and looking forward to critically exploring the use of data in education over the next 12 weeks. Please check that you have received an invite to your personal blog site – if you haven’t, contact Jeremy. Do also note your tutor here – this will be your first point of contact for the course.

The course begins with an introductory fortnight, in which we will examine the term ‘data’ and its associated technologies and practices, as well as prepare for the ongoing data visualisation assignment.

As with every other section of this course, reading is central, so please head over to the introductory section of the resources list as soon as you can this week and engage with the readings for weeks one and two. Note that for the ‘Dear Data’ resource, the online digital copy is here:  https://discovered.ed.ac.uk/permalink/f/gfso8q/44UOE_ALMA51272488390002466, and you will also find the project website useful: http://www.dear-data.com/all

To support your explorations of ‘data’ this week, as well your general course orientation, we have a discussion forum in Moodle and a synchronous group tutorial – sign up here.

Good luck everyone!
